Nuances instead of grand gestures
It is above all as an opera singer with impressive stage presence that Anja Harteros is acclaimed all over the world. Nonetheless, lieder-singing, which thrives on nuances and not grand gestures, is also very important to her. She now presents "Of Eternal Love", her first lieder recital on CD. It comprises a personal selection of pieces ranging from Haydn to Strauss. Love and transience are the two poles between which the content unfolds. In a multitude of ways, Anja Harteros illuminates the various facets of these
two main chords of human existence with her warm and yet intense soprano voice.
She is sensitively accompanied on the journey through stylistic and emotional worlds by Wolfram Rieger at the piano.
"It is the candour of artistic fire that is so impressive in Anja Harteros's art."
