After his fi rst released self-titled album (on V2) and the second album “Wilderness” (edel) Brett Anderson returns with his most anticipated new work. “Slow Attack” is Brett Anderson’s third solo album since the break-up of Suede and The Tears, with the latter on a seemingly permanent hiatus. Brett Anderson is clearly not writing or recording with the pressure of being once more on the cover of the right weekly UK magazine, or with the „duty“ to stick to the reputation of his original band. He is now a mature and completely free writer. His music now „attacks“ the soul without the urge of Rock and Roll, but seduces slowly, like only a mature artist can. „Slow Attack“ contains 11 new tracks of gorgeously rich and intimate pastoral quality. Brett Anderson put his focus especially into the lyrics. More than ever they are suggesting meanings with introspective atmosphere and never in a too obvious or simplistic way. Brett Anderson describes the album as “fuller, stranger and more complex one than the last two solo albums”, infl uenced by Talk Talk’s “distortion of the Pop model” and musically, a record “heavily featuring woodwind”. One can say that the album is nearly a flawless piece of melancholic musicianship. Like Anderson’s second album “Wilderness”, the new album has also been produced and co-written together with Leo Abraham
(Nick Cave, Brian Eno).
