A brand new heavy rock band is ready to thrill people all over the world.
Newly found Devil’s Train features renowned names such as vocalist, producer and mastermind R.D. Liapakis (frontman of German power metal act
Mystic Prophecy), Jörg Michael (one of the most eminent drummers on earth and former member of Stratovarius), guitarist Lakis Ragazas and
not to forget bass guitar player Jari Kainulainen (Symfonia, Ex-Stratovarius, Ex-Evergrey).
“I am rock and roll down to my veins and I always had diverse infl uences in my music, a great part of which are expressed in the music I write with Mystic Prophecy. However, the style of music I have been preparing for Devil’s Train with Lakis Ragazas isn‘t the style that would fi t Mystic Prophecy and this is why I decided to initiate a side band. Luckily, other people with whom I have common musical background share my vice for rock 'n' roll and Jörg, as I found out when we toured together in January 2010, is one of them.“(R.D. Liapakis)
Devil’s Train is now set to embark on an ambitious mission and is going to release their 12-song eponymous debut on February 17th.
With its amazingly driving sound, “Devil’s Train” already is highly acclaimed by journalists all over the world. Even experts have been pricking up their ears in surprise to hear musicians who had made names for themselves in the power metal genre are capable of playing as bluesy and grooving as Devil’s Train do on their debut album.
“We’re all totally into riff-based blues rock and rock’n’roll along the lines of bands such as Bad Company, Blue Murder and Badlands. But I consciously picked musicians from the power metal sector for Devil’s Train – on the one hand to surprise the fans, and on the other to make sure that the result would sound really dynamic. We play in a very bluesy, occasionally even soulful style, but all songs are based on strong guitar parts and come across as anything but mainstream.” (R.D. Liapakis)
The record’s furioso opener ‘Fire And Water’ and the dynamic ‘To The Ground’, which sees the band blend rock, metal, blues and soul in a haunting mélange, are presenting a contrast to the sensitive ballad ‘Forever’ and the melancholy groove rocker ‘Coming Home’. The fi nale of this impressive debut album is marked by the band’s rendition of the The Guess Who classic ‘American Woman’.
An opulent blues rock menu has been served: Devil’s Train have set the bar high on their debut recording and prove that the current music scene still has the potential to surprise. This is a bandwagon on which you’d be well advised to jump early, because there will be no holding back once it has gathered momentum!
Devil’s Train – the perfect musical trip to hell.
