Motown, possibly the most important record label in the history of pop, the label of stars like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, celebrates its 50th birthday this year.
The book, “The Soul of Motown – The Story of a Recors Label in 15 Songs” honours, what Motown is famous for – the unbelievable number of successful hit singles. 15 great Motown songs, lovingly illustrated, are presented here with their history, printed lyrics, extracts from the scores and everything else you’d expect in such a collection.
The music journalist and author Torsten Groß goes into each song and the story of its birth while telling the history of Motown. The book also comes with a CD containing all 15 songs (including Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, The Temptations and Diana Ross amongst others).
