Edel as an employer
Part of Edel AG’s mission statement is the conviction that creativity and the willingness to do your best flourish the most readily in a corporate culture characterized by a spirit of cooperation, respect and constructive criticism. Thus, Edel companies attempt to give their employees a high degree of flexibility in organizing their own work and exercising their own initiative within the constraints defined by the corporate goals. Our human resource activities are guided by efforts to further each individual employee in the light of his or her specific needs and skills. As part of these systematic and target-oriented activities, we offer our employees numerous opportunities for further training and learning. In addition to offering positions to young trainees and encouraging their professional growth within the company, this also entails various ongoing training activities for employees and members of management aimed at enhancing their qualifications. The Edel group companies provide training openings for a large number of different careers. Our German companies in particular have been achieving high trainee ratios, far above the industry average in some cases, for many years now. With over 140 employees, Edel AG’s Hamburg head office is one of the city’s largest employers in the entertainment industry. Here we train young people in three careers and one course in the area of media business science and media management in collaboration with the Hamburg School of Business Administration. With around 600 employees, the Group’s own replication and logistics center optimal media production in Röbel/Müritz is one of the largest employers in the region, a fact which involves a high degree of responsibility in what is otherwise a structurally weak part of Germany. At our Röbel site, we train young people in a total of 14 careers. As a media company, we move in business and career circles requiring above-average commitment and flexibility on the part of our employees and executives. For this reason, Edel AG offers a series of working time models to help integrate career and private needs, e.g. during the child-rearing phase. We are very open to personnel development strategies aimed at achieving a “work-life balance” in order to further enhance our employees’ motivation and loyalty. In addition to flexible working hours, this also involves part-time hours and the option of working from home as well as advances towards covering the cost of child-minders and the use of public transportation. Staff fluctuation in the Edel Group is relatively low. This particularly contrasts with the widespread instability of the personnel situation in the international media and music industry as a whole. The Edel companies have a relatively large proportion of employees - particularly in middle and top management at the German and international companies, who boast an above-average period of service of ten years or more. The members of the Edel Group arrange numerous activities and events for their staff, such as children’s and family festivals, concerts and sporting events. Family members, friends, artists and business associates frequently also take part in these events, which have gained great popularity even outside the Company. Edel AG regularly conducts medical examinations of working conditions and also implements health-related measures - such as vaccinations and non-smoking programs – going beyond the statutory requirements. We additionally endeavor to create working conditions conducive to the health of all employees or at least not compromising it. To this end, we offer non-smoking offices, ergonomic office furniture and healthy canteen food and encourage company sports activities. The wellbeing of our staff at our Hamburg head office is also enhanced by our geographic location. Designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio and located directly on the River Elbe opposite the container port, Edel AG’s office building has received numerous awards and is often called one of Hamburg’s most beautiful office buildings. Employees, artists and guests welcome the spacious and airy building with its creative and inspiring atmosphere.
