earMUSIC announces 'To The Metal' the new album by Gamma Ray

Gamma Ray will release their new studio album on January 29th.
The band founded and lead by Kai Hansen since his departure from Helloween (the band he founded and with whom he wrote heavy metal classics like “I Want Out” and “Future World” and gained Gold Awards all over the world with the albums two volumes of the saga “Keeper Of The Seventh Key”) soon became one of the most prominent bands in the European Heavy Metal scene.  Along with the likes of Helloween, Blind Guardian, Primal Fear and Running Wild, Hamburg based Gamma Ray forms the core of the European Power Metal movement. With the 1995 concept album “Land Of The Free”, Gamma Ray became internationally known, touring with bands like Iron Maiden, Hammerfall and Stratovarius all over the place and they became familiar with Top 40 Album Charts.

Kai Hansen is without doubt the central figure in Gamma Ray.  Nevertheless it would be a big mistake to underestimate the importance of the remaining band members: Dirk Schlächter on bass who recorded , mixed and co-produced the album with Hansen, Henjo Richter on guitar and keyboards and Dan Zimmermann on drums.
After the last studio album “Land of the Free II” released in 2007 the band was at the peak of their career and now, after a new recording contract with earMUSIC here is “To The Metal” their 10th studio album in 21 years of world-wide success and a new real diamond in their Metal history.

As the title already assumes, it’s a real Heavy Metal record showing their never ending experimental creativity. “To The Metal” is not a pure reworking of the traditional and classic Gamma Ray sound but includes also some influences of Gothic and Industrial.

“To The Metal” will be released on various formats: CD, Limited Edition Digipak cover + Bonus DVD of over 70 minutes (a real documentary showing the recording process of the album, videos, interview and behind the scenes, a real must for all real fans, Collector's Edition: the full CD album in a signed 7” vinyl sized cover featuring a vinyl single with 2 exclusive tracks (3000 units available). For all those nostalgic for vinyl, the album will also be available in a limited edition gatefold vinyl LP.
