VinylDisc chart-eligible

Röbel / Hamburg - The Official UK Charts Company yesterday confirmed that optimal’s new VinylDisc will be chart eligible. This is great news for the first commercial single release due out shortly as sales will count towards a chart position therefore making the novel format even more attractive to artists and record companies.

VinylDisc is a combination of an audio-CD and a special vinyl record. It consists of two combined layers. The silver-coloured layer contains the digital audio information; the black top layer can be played back on virtually any record player. The CD surface of the disc has a capacity of 70 minutes. The vinyl surface of the disc can hold a recording of up to 3.5 minutes. 
At this time of increased music downloads, physical data carriers have increasingly become a marketing tool. optimal handle more high-quality, exclusive CD audio orders than ever before and we have also seen a sharp increase in the manufacture of vinyl. So, it seemed an obvious idea to combine the digital and analogue worlds of sound.

VinylDisc is a legally protected copyright format and an exclusive product of optimal media production. The new format was first introduced at Berlin’s Popkomm in September this year.
